Still I Want To Sing

Body and soul both grow old

Only time will tell

How smooth the closing miles will roll

To death bell’s final knell

Body and mind slowly unwind

The world continues to spin

Keep the laces tight on your boots

And push for a final win

Aching muscles common place

Throbbing in the knees

Got an ankle ain’t quite right

Long walks not a breeze

Not as sharp as I used to be

My Jeopardy buzzer slowed

But comfortable in my wisdom still

Hoping it will hold

At my age it’s all gravy now

I’ve lived and loved and thrilled

Been all around this big bad world

And now I’m livin’ chill

I can’t complain, but still I do

Keep reaching for the ring

I’ve had my share of happiness

But still I want to sing

The house is almost paid off

Bank account not too thin

Got money for a few more years

If those pension checks come in

How high should I now set the bar

Can’t jump the way I used to

Still would like to do some things

But need to bite what I can chew

So look out world, I’m here to twirl

And dance and twist and rock

But once it’s time to hang it up

I’ve got a loaded Glock
