I’ve been thinkin‘ ‘bout politics way too much
Means something ain’t all right
Politics should be a clash of ideas
Not a gun-slinging barroom fight
But if you throw in too much religion
Politics comes unglued
Religious zealots won’t compromise
When their Good Book sets all rules
How else could these Christians support Donald Trump
Unless divinely inspired
They say Trump was sent by God
I guess God likes big fat liars
And God likes unfaithful husbands
And business-dealing cheats
And if God is a fan of sociopathic narcissists
Donald’s got the meats
If you believe the rapture’s near
Real world and fantasies converging
You think the Lord will raise you up
Like Muslim suicide bombers and virgins
They say the Lord works in mysterious ways
Trump is a testament, so don’t be hostile
Yeah, he likes to brag about his riches
It’s called the prosperity gospel
Trump and these churches got a lot in common
Grifting money all night and day
After losing, Trump bilked $250 million for a fake election-defense fund
I guess that’s prosperity gospel on display
Political preachers strut their stuff
On TV, talkin’ hate
Guns may be needed to clear the filth
Now let us pass the plate
Demons stalking hallways
Armageddon on the way
They care not of this sordid earth
It’s heaven that holds sway
Sorry dude, I’m off the bus
Can’t stand this holy ride
And guess what Jack, you’re way off track
God is not on your side
