The Dictator’s Last Dance

Is this table getting longer, or is it just me?

The dictator is deteriorating

Increasingly alone

At home and abroad

His end will come

Things can only go so far

People can only take so much

Dictators often grow old in office

Becoming more convinced of their infallibility

Purging opponents and critics alike

Until nobody is left to argue

Ah, the arrogance of long-term command

Lots of yes-men hang around

Nobody wants to bring bad news

Dictators become increasingly ill-informed

And so Putin went to war

With delusional beliefs

And much too full of self

He thought Ukraine would fold

He thought Zelensky would run

He thought his army was better

He didn’t think the West could unite in opposition

Now Putin knows he’s overreached

But dictators don’t admit mistakes

Orders his army to flatten cities

No matter how much blood it takes

His dreams of grandeur must be gone

Peter the Great he’s clearly not

We once saw Putin’s Russia strong

Now all we see is rot

But how to trap a nuke-wielding rat

From the outside a tough game

Mother Russia, we call on you

Please end this dictator’s reign
