Geckos On The Wall

When the sun is shining high

At certain times of day

Red flowers outside my window

Glow bright in proud display

Rock moss wall in shadows

Backdrop to this scene

Geckos and chameleons

Blending brown and green

This simple scene familiar

Sipping coffee at my desk

Thinking about my many tasks

And how much time is left

Scrambling all about this life

Like geckos on the wall

Pinwheels spinning aimlessly

Careful now, don’t fall

What reason makes it worthwhile

To rise from bed each day

Other than life clinging to life

Is it simply nature’s way?

Ooh, Thursday today

That means an NFL game

Something to look forward to

Does that make my life too lame

I know, yes, but maybe I’ll cover my tracks

Do something productive this morning

Maybe that will get you off my ass

Off my ass and out of my face

You working stiffs gotta give me some grace

Oh wait, you say, kind of paranoid Bob

OK, but sometimes I do feel like a slob

But guess what folks, most of the time I’m cool

I do what I like, dance to my tune

And tune the TV how I want to see

Surf the web with infinite glee

Go to the beach and jump in the sea

Hop on my bike for a pedaling spree

This journey of life is in constant flux

And we’re all flying mostly blind

So many struggle for happiness

Let’s treat each other kind

OK, breaks over, my fellow geckos

Thank you for hearing my call

We’ve got a football game this afternoon

But for now, it’s back on the wall

The “rock moss” wall is a kind of sandstone
ooh, using the portrait mode makes the background blurry
