Hey everybody, let’s get it in gear
For a very merry Christmas
And a happy sappy New Year
Renewal is upon us
2021 coming fast
Just in time
2020 can kiss my ass
The best laid plans of this past year
Seem nothing more than joke
When COVID came a callin’
Our plans went up in smoke
No travelling now, or eating out, or cruisin’ ‘round the town
Just hanging out at the house, while businesses close down
Hawaii nei is lovely way
To live a peaceful life
But with no tourist bucks to float the trucks
The handout lines are rife
Still, ‘tis the time of year
Mandatory good cheer
Or perhaps, crying in your beer (you’re choice)
Manic types like me
Swing up and down in mood
Even happy holidays
Leave plenty time to brood
The holiday season supposes joy
The religious act in awe
But most folks just like getting gifts
And stuffing their fat craws
And of course, it is the time
To take full stock of life
2020, what a turn
On the cosmic carnival ride
I’m thankful for my life’s good luck
And all the things I have
I love my wife and she loves me
Almost always makes me glad
It’s a great week, Christmas to New Year
A good time to reflect
Suspended animation
With a weird doppler effect
Hmmmm, where we at?
Where we going?
Which way do we turn now?
It all ain’t clear, but got to move
Must figure out just how
One year’s gone, another notch
Upon the belt of time
But don’t look now, it’s batter up
A new year’s on the rise
