I’m so woke
I cringe with shame
White privilege is to blame
I march lockstep with leftie friends
Like a secular religion
Without deep knee bends
We stand and show how sorry we are
Then drive home quick in luxury cars
I bow to all marginalized groups
I have no say in their affairs
White privilege clouds my judgment
My mind is so impaired
Only blacks can comment on black issues
Only gays can talk about gay rights
Only Native Americans can discuss tribal issues
Only Hawaiians can speak of sacred Mauna Kea
Only a trans person can play a trans person in a movie
Ah, if only I was a black trans native-American woman
I could have so much to say
But no such luck for white boys
We keep our thoughts at bay
How can we get to a colorless society
If all things must be discussed through the lens of race
How long is this chase?
Word on the street
White folks, too, die from police
Check the stats and you will see
But I guess it’s not cool to show on TV
I may be in trouble now
Woke police upon my trail
But no worries for my safety
And I love to read hate mail
